Chambray is a softer, lighter alternative to a denim shirt. Traditionally, chambray is woven using a colored thread (on the warp) and white thread (on the weft) - similar to denim.
Chambray uses the same plain weave construction as poplin. What differentiates chambray and poplin is the thickness of the yarn used in weaving. Chambray uses a thicker yarn.
Go West is our comfortable, year-round chambray fabric. At 145 gm, it has enough weight to give the shirt substance, but it's not woven too tightly, so the fabric drapes comfortably.
Go West has a down-to-earth sensibility with a workwear heritage, that matches well with jeans and cotton pants.
Chambray gets its name from the French town, Cambrai, where it’s said to have been first woven in the 1500s.
